UV-LED Resin for Flexible Ribbon

UV-LED resin for flexible ribbon, low modulus, designed to achieve a flexible ribbon structure, known as flexible ribbon and spider web ribbon.

This product stems from the desire to optimise the arrangement of the fibres and, in turn, optimise the space the ribbon occupies and its weight. In addition, the 829 resin is characterised by its suitability for curing with UV LED lamps.

UV and UV-LED matrix resins complement and complement the FibreCoat ink line to meet the ever-increasing demand in the fibre-optic coding sector.

Flexible Ribbon and Spider Web Ribbon

829 resin is a UV-LED-cured product designed to achieve the so-called Flexible Ribbon, Spider Web Ribbon structure.

Compared to the standard system, with this new design, the fibres are only selectively bonded with our matrix material: the fibres are partially bonded together at intermittent points to create a very flexible structure with excellent winding performance.

This design allows 16 fibres to be fixed in the cable for optimal use of space and weight.

This makes it possible to fit more fibres into narrow bundles and position them in smaller spaces. This handling of the fibres therefore allows the cable diameter to be reduced, space and weight to be optimised, and positioning to be facilitated, as the selective bonds allow the system to be installed smoothly.

Curing

The curing of FARBWERKE HERKULA SA/AG resin 829 is carried out using LED lamps (395 nm) with nitrogen purge.

The resin is suitable for use on lines with speeds between 100 and 500 m/min, depending on the type of machinery.

Properties and Preservation

FibreCoat 829 resin from FARBWERKE HERKULA SA/AG provides excellent mechanical properties, high flexibility and excellent winding performance.

In addition, it contains no VOCs and no CMR substances.
